Who's reading a good book these days? Let's hear some book recommendations for winter time reading!!

Books were at the top of my Christmas wish list. I just finished two authorized Poirot/Agatha Christie books by Sophie Hannah. I believe she's written 5 total and they've all been pretty good!

Health is more than just food, movement, and hydration. It's also what you put into your mind and heart.

I batch-cooked 8 packs of bacon this week for the family - they are SO happy, lol!

I like to wait for it to go on deep sale, then I stock up and cook it all at once. It freezes well if there's any left (there never is, lol!)

I cook my bacon in the oven on deep sided sheets at 375 degrees for 26 minutes. LESS mess and mostly hands-off cooking.

Side note - The pans I use are a little thicker than the ones I used to use; previously I needed to cook it for just 23ish minutes, so PLEASE - start checking your bacon at the 22 minutes mark if you are new to the oven-cooking method and aren't sure. :)

You can take your own sweet, slow time.

Today, I spent a few minutes reflecting on 2025 and jotting down the positive actions I took that made a positive effect on my life and sometimes the lives of others.

Many small things like buying warmer mittens for winter walks, removing an obstacle for me.

Some big things too.

And some that are deeply personal and have nothing to do with diet or directly impacting my physical health.

I'm taking the time to notice these wins and positives before I even consider possible goals for 2026.

Because when I do begin to ponder those, I want it to be from a place of excitement, gratitude, and strength knowing that if I could make changes and do positive things in 2025, I can do it in 2026 too. πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

And yes.... the Christmas wreaths are still up. What's the rush? ☺️β™₯️

"I would hear her, but I wouldn't actually listen and do it.....until January of 2021 I decided to start getting up every morning and working out with Pahla B....

"So I began....with these little 2 and 3 pound weights....exercising with her daily, Monday-Friday.... and gradually building stamina and strength.....

"Yes I have moved beyond those "tiny" weights and so can you!!

"One day at a time, one workout at a time, one pound at a time!!!!

"Don't despise the day of small beginnings ladies...who knows where you will end up!?!?!?!?!"

Mama Shelly shared this over in our Foxy Over Forty community today. What she *didn't* say is that she is now a certified personal trainer who lifts HEAVY and works with women in her personal gym, wherever they are starting out.

She's come a LONG way, baby! ;)

Shelly inspires me to keep working at moving my body with purpose and to continue challenging myself to not settle for less than what I am capable of doing. Whether that's lifting heavier, walking a little more, or drinking water upon waking - being in community with a mama like Shelly is a HUGE blessing and help in my health journey.
