Hi there, and welcome to my page!
I am Shannon Marley, a licensed professional counselor. With my experiences working in the fields of addiction and recovery, in-patient treatment, and voluntary respite mental health care, I am familiar with a myriad of mental health issues and interventions needed to treat both youth and adult individuals and families.
My previous work history includes supporting adolescents, adults, and families experiencing various challenges including depression and anxiety, recovery from addiction, LGBTQ+ related issues, trauma, and major life transitions. I'm passionate about utilizing several different therapeutic approaches to build a person-centered treatment plan with each client to support them in understanding their diagnosis with education, managing their symptoms with appropriate coping skills, and goal setting to create the life each individual envisions for themselves.
I completed my Master of Arts in Family Psychology degree at Hardin-Simmons University in Texas. I believe that each individual and family presents uniquely based on their history and experiences, and therefore, an eclectic approach to treatment is necessary. I utilize a combination of approaches including cognitive reprocessing therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy, and family systems just to name a few. I work with clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I believe it takes great courage to seek out help to take the first steps toward change, and I am here to help support and empower folks in their journey.
If you're open to gaining new insights, learning new techniques to better cope with current struggles, and are willing to put in the work in order to thrive rather than simply survive day to day, visit my Psychology Today page and email or call to schedule an appointment. I am looking forward to meeting you!
