Full circle. Years ago, they came out with plastic grocery bags and encouraged us not to use paper bags, to save the forests. OK, somewhat legitimate. Although logically questionable.
Then they decided to start charging us to cut back on the use of grocery bags, whether plastic or paper. Again, well intention, but questionable logic. For instance, those bags probably cost about half cent each, and we’re charged $.10 per bag. Profit center for grocery stores?
So instead, we’re asked to use the reusable grocery bags. Never mind the sanitation and health dangers of using them over and over and over.
Now, my local grocery store has no plastic bags. You have to get paper bags, and you have to pay for them, or use your own.
I’m not saying there’s an easy solution, but I do suspect that there’s a better one. For instance, dedicated federal lands, which are currently unused, to plant fast growing wood products that can be used for things like paper bags?
I don’t know, there’s plenty of people smarter than me, but not all of them are more logical than me. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
