My name is Emily Beerbower, BSW, MSW, LSW, and I have been providing behavioral consultant services for individuals on the Indiana Medicaid Waiver (Family Support Waiver and Community Integration and Habilitation) since 2019. I am currently an Independent Subcontractor with Professional Assessment of Indiana. I have over a decade of experience working with individuals with disabilities in a variety of settings. I believe that addressing consumers holistically, through a bio psychosocial approach, is crucial for success and take great pride in exploring all areas of the consumers life and assisting families to connect with resources and support. I have extensive experience navigating the waiver, Medicaid, special education, and community resources and enjoys assisting families in these area. I believe that families and consumers are the ultimate experts on their lives and strives to meet consumers and families where they are at, work on what is most important to the family and consumer, and provide support and advocacy in every aspect of their lives. I always try to throw in humor, when appropriate, and create warm relationships with the individuals I serve. I have special interests in working with individuals with medical needs to achieve independence and self-management skills, trauma, teenagers and young adults, chronic pain and illness, youth and families involved with the child welfare and/or juvenile justice systems, adoption issues, depression and anxiety, individuals with mental illness and developmental disabilities, executive functioning and independent living skills, and individuals who are “twice exceptions”; who have both disabilities and are gifted. I also have a special interest in puberty, development, and relationship skills with young woman with disabilities! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my two sons, both who have disabilities, and trying out different adaptive sports with them. We love getting out into the community to try new things and explore and are always up for an adventure. We are share our home with our two crazy Australian Shepherds, Jenny and Joey, as well as my son’s Yellow Lab Service Dog, Vivian, 3 sugar gliders, and a large salt water fish tank.
