Should you or shouldn't you wear gloves during your trip to the grocery store?
ABC contributor, Dr. Jen Ashton, explains what I know to be accurate, that gloves give many people a false sense of security and often result in cross-contamination. I've seen it countless times in my role as a Food Safety Specialist. It was nothing to see a food prep employee handle raw chicken then touch a cooler door. Still, the kicker for me happened after I placed my order at a local deli and then saw a Salad Prep guy wearing his apron and gloves as he exited the restroom. He casually walked back to his work station, grabbed the broom, and swept the floor before he continued making salads and deli sandwiches. -contamination
ABC News Chief Medical Correspondent Jennifer Ashton explains whether wearing gloves actually protects you while running errands.
