A somber reminder of the reality of providing veterinary care. Please support and uplift your local veterinary team members. 💜
Dear Friends - This isn't a happy post, but it is a necessary post.
If you are connected to a person on social media who works in veterinary medicine, you may have noticed them changing their profile picture to include "NOMV".
NOMV stands for Not One More Vet.
Sadly, this week our industry lost two veterinarians to su***de.
It is the nature of our profession that we put ourselves in stressful situations and give everything of ourselves to help your furry friends. Unfortunately, the same qualities that make us compassionate caregivers, also put us at risk with one of the highest su***de rates of ANY profession.
The numbers are heartbreaking.
▪️1 in 6 veterinarians has considered su***de.
▪️Veterinary employees are 3.5 times more likely than the general public to commit su***de.
While our clinic works extremely hard to combat the depression that comes with this career, we need the communities around us to join the fight against this horrible phenomenon.
Be kind to your veterinary staff. From the front desk, technicians, kennel attendants, groomers, and doctors. We are all trying to help you. We squeeze in appointments, we stay over for emergencies, and go to great lengths to get you answers for every question.
We genuinely care about you and your pets like our own.

This is a topic that is close to our hearts and we understand that it does not just affect the veterinary industry. If you are struggling, please reach out to the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255
