Before his accident, Kevin Pearce was one of the most promising athletes in the world of professional snowboarding—an X Games silver medalist and Olympic hopeful.

On December 31, 2009, everything changed.

While training for the Olympic trials, Kevin suffered a severe traumatic brain injury that left him in a coma and permanently altered the course of his life. Today, he’s not just a survivor—he’s a speaker, advocate, and founder of

His story is a reminder that no two brain injuries are the same—and that every survivor needs a unique path to healing.

Traumatic brain injuries are an invisible epidemic. More than 5.3 million Americans live with long-term disability due to TBI—and most people don't even realize it. Add to that the staggering cost of untreated care and the emotional toll on families, and the need for long-term solutions becomes urgent.

Villa Licci exists to fill that care gap. Because recovery isn’t just for the short term—it’s for life.

🎭 These masks may be made of paper… but they carry the weight of survival, loss, strength, and hope.
Created by TBI survivors in Indiana, each one tells a deeply personal story — of what it's like to live with a brain injury.

Through color, symbols, and raw emotion, these masks unmask more than trauma — they reveal resilience.
They are part of “Unmasking Brain Injury,” a powerful initiative that aligns perfectly with our Rebuilding Me campaign — a journey of rediscovering identity, purpose, and community after brain injury.

🧠 Because rebuilding starts with being seen.

Before her brain injury, Brigette was thriving.

A nursing student with a 3.5 GPA.
A runner. A missionary. A friend. A daughter.
Someone who woke up early to cook for the homeless before class—and still had time to fall in love.

Then on December 31, 2007—one day after her 20th birthday—a car accident changed everything.

Brigette suffered a traumatic brain injury and spent more than 90 days in the hospital. Her old life vanished overnight. The running. The independence. The future she had carefully planned.

Now in her 30s, Brigette lives with her parents. She still smiles, still prays, still believes. But the loneliness is real. The isolation runs deep.

**She wants to love and be loved.**
**To be part of a community that sees her, not just her injury.**
**To belong again.**

That’s why her family believes so strongly in the mission of Villa Licci.

It represents the kind of place Brigette dreams of:
A community of support, friendship, and understanding for adults with traumatic brain injuries.
A place where she’s not just surviving—but living.

"There’s a voice in me that says: Get up. Begin again."

Aaron could have given up.
Instead, he listened to the whisper that said: Try again.

This is the voice so many of us need when we’re tired, overwhelmed, or lost.
The voice of grace. Of resilience. Of hope.

At Villa Licci, we hold space for that voice. We believe in second chances, new chapters, and mornings where you simply begin again.
