Bunions are more than “bony bumps” --they’re misalignments of the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint at the base of the big toe. Over time, the first metatarsal bone shifts outward while the big toe angles toward the second toe, creating a visible bump on the side of the foot. The issue isn’t just cosmetic. Bunions alter foot mechanics, leading to pain and stiffness that make weight-bearing activities difficult. For athletes, even minor changes in foot alignment can impact performance and increase injury risk.

How long do treatments take?
Session time depends on the size of the affected area and the severity of your pain. However, most applications are no more than ten minutes.

How many sessions do I need?
At least six procedures are recommended for the desired long-term effects, but we’ll cover the process in your individualized treatment plan.

How long does it take to see results for fungal nail infections?
On average, patients won't see new, healthy nail growth for 4–6 months from the initial treatment. Toenails grow slowly—only about 1 millimeter per month, which is three times slower than fingernails.

Can I be contagious while undergoing laser treatment for fungal nails?
Yes, fungus is easily spread through shared bathroom space, public locker rooms, showers, and pools, shared clothing or shoes, and even carpeting. We'll provide guidelines to help prevent spreading the infection.

When you visit Indy Podiatry, our Fishers and Indianapolis podiatrists first evaluate your condition to ensure this treatment is appropriate for your specific needs. During your consultation, we'll examine your feet, discuss your symptoms, and review your medical history. The method itself is quick and straightforward. You'll wear protective eye wear while one of our skilled podiatrists directs the Remy Laser at the affected area.

PAIN-FREE PROCEDURE - The application is entirely painless, with most patients reporting no discomfort during the quick process. There's no need for anesthesia or painkillers, making it suitable for patients who are anxious about more invasive procedures.

NO RECOVERY TIME - Unlike surgical options, there's zero downtime after your Remy Laser treatment. You can walk out of our Fishers or Indianapolis podiatry offices and resume normal activities immediately after your appointment.

DRUG-FREE PAIN RELIEF - This form of therapy offers a superior alternative to other pain management options. Unlike cortisone injections, which may cause anxiety due to needle discomfort, or pain medications with high dependency rates, laser treatment is needle-free, pain-free, and drug-free.

CELLULAR HEALING, NOT SYMPTOM MASKING - While topical analgesics, cortisone injections, and opioids only temporarily mask pain, laser therapy regenerates cells so your body can heal naturally, resulting in lasting effects rather than temporary relief.

SAFE FOR MOST PATIENTS - The Remy Laser treatment is one of the safest options available with virtually no negative side effects. It's safe to use over metal implants and is suitable for patients who cannot take medications due to other health conditions or drug interactions.
