We are a collective of birth workers dedicated to serve, uplift, and empower BIPOC families with making informed decisions from pre-conception to postpartum and beyond.

This past Saturday, IMBC had a grand ole time at the Western Bowl! Thanks to our Events Committee, we have an outting to promote bonding between members once a quarter. No announcements or agendas, just laughs, a **few** gutter balls, and lots of catching up!

For many members, we are on call, balancing a day job and our dream, planning a childbirth education course (make sure to register with link in bio!), and going through whatever life has for us each day. It is always refreshing to be able to get to know one another, relax, and enjoy each other's company (with an occasion "you won't believe what happened at this birth). Because this work can easily become isolating with the lifestyle, IMBC creates these spaces for us let everything else go and be in the present moment, enjoying ourselves and leaning on our circle.

There are only 3 weeks left until Love Connections through Birth, IMBC's FREE partner-centered childbirth education class!

We are elated to have two amazing presenters, Rahel Black, Holistic LMT, and Jarrah Hamer, MS, LMHCA, Psychotherapist, Certified Domestic Relations Mediator

On Day 1, come comfortable and ready to move as Rahel and her husband, Nate Black Jr., demonstrate a couple's stretch sessions to encourage moving TOGETHER. Rahel is the owner of Get Ryte Holistic Health and Wellness, which offers massage therapy, myofascial release stretch sessions, and tons of holistic advice to provide you physical healing. Her and Nate have hosted couples stretch sessions over the past 2 years in Indianapolis to encourage intimacy while moving your body.

On Day 2, we will have breakout sessions for birth people and their partners. Jarrah will facilitate a fathers and partners circle to discuss the importance of mental health, creating a support system, and offering a safe space for fathers to create connections during this transition. Jarrah is a part of Fanner House's Morningstar Afro-Centric Wellness Center, obtaining his Master's of Science in Mental Health Counseling, and dedicated to raising awareness and supporting members of his community's mental.

Meanwhile, the birthing people will have a Sisters circle to discuss postpartum depression and open discussions on some taboo postpartum topics.

Another one for the books!

This year was 3rd annual It's a Family Affair Resource Fair and Black Breastfeeding Week Celebration 🤱🏽🤱🏾🤱🏿! We are accompanied by so many passionate community advocates, birthworkers, and lactation professionals alike to spread awareness of all of our resources that support families who breastfeed right here in Indiana.

IMBC sponsored the Lactation Station 🍼 tent dedicated to breastfeeding families to have a comfortable place in the shade to feed their baby. Not to mention, the breeze on Saturday was wonderful 🌬🙌🏾!

The fire department, as always, provided FREE drive thru style infant and child carseat inspections along with letting the littlest enjoy the fire truck 🚒.

Overall, this event was nothing short of a great time!

Thank you to the Melamama and Indiana Breastfeeding Coalition team for putting together another successful It's a Family Affair!

What a powerful weekend together! These incredible women showed up for the PAILAdvocate Training (Pregnancy and Infant Loss) and poured their hearts into learning how to better support families through some of the hardest moments of life.
