Building a bowl full of healthy carbs, protein and veggies on a bed of greens is my go-to.
There are many reasons why I’ve taken this approach the last few years.
1️⃣ Prepare in bulk. If you take time to prepare several different veggies, several servings of a lean protein and a healthy carbohydrate, you can easily build a bowl using various flavors several times throughout the week. Having food prepared and in the fridge makes life more convenient on the inevitable busy days. There’s at least a couple things everyone in the family will eat. Dinner done ✔️ quick!
2️⃣ It saves money. It keeps you from ordering food from the local takeout or rolling into the drive thru.
3️⃣ It’s a good way to diversify your intake. Seasonal veggies are where it’s at as far as vitamin and mineral intake. Our bodies appreciate it when we eat all the colors of the rainbow 🌈
4️⃣ It takes longer to eat. We rush through life. Slowing down to eat aids in digestion. Adding ‘free’ (lower calorie) veggies adds volume + fiber! and that keeps you from getting hungry later in the evening.

Sautéed zucchini, bell pepper, beets, quinoa, cucumber, mixed greens, grilled lean ground turkey burgers and goat cheese on top!

A new year is here! ✨ and all the gift giving and holiday cheer is coming to an end. So often we get caught up in giving our time and all the many gifts to the ones we love that we neglect to give to ourselves.
But let’s be real, this isn’t just during the holiday season, it can happen throughout the year. Seasons of life bring different challenges. And next thing we know, we are tired, hangry, burnt out and feeling a bit pudgy.
I’ve been there, I find myself struggling with taking care of me when the stress of life, work and kids calls!
But reality is, we can’t pour out of an empty cup.
So how do we fix it?
I work with clients daily to help them find the basic minimums [or promises] they can keep for themselves to maintain some sort of control when things seem chaotic.
Keep it simple! Pick 2-3
💧Water intake
🏃🏻‍♀️10-20 min of movement
🤸‍♂️ 5 min of stretching
🐔High protein intake
💨Focused breathing
🥦Increased veggie intake
😴Sleep! Atleast 7-9 hours
These are habits you can incorporate slowly into the day in day out. Need help? Accountability?

This year, give more to yourself, so you can give more to others. Not talking about all the shiny things, but loving yourself better.

Can you believe Christmas is just a week away?!?
I've been reflecting a lot this year. It's been a crazy year and I'm thankful that this season brings the need and time to really dig deep into reflection.
Christmas deals a lot with expectations, doesn't it?
The words of songs like "O Come, O Come Emmanuel."
The way children are so excited and expectantly (usually impatiently 😂) waiting for Santa Clause to give them every toy they could want.
We expect white winters, happy holidays, and the Christmas spirit to surround all of our happenings.
But life, with all its little annoyances and large difficulties, is still going on.
And then we end up finding ourselves let down.
And so while Christmas is about expectancy, it is in many ways about suffering. That's not because there isn't a lot of good going on. Because there is!
Instead, it's because we are walking around with so many expectations. And expectations kill us!
Oftentimes we can't handle unmet expectations or get rid of our desires. And that's where the pain hits.
As my kids love to say (but hate to hear!): "You get what you get, and you don't throw a fit."
One of the keys to being present—and one of the greatest benefits from being so—is to hold on to expectations and experiences loosely.
Let go and let live. Expect nothing and you'll find you have so much to enjoy.
It'll free you up not only to live, but to be full of love for everyone you encounter this Christmas.
Here’s to staying present, without expectations…just joy.

Being a mother has taught me a love that I could have never imagined. Despite all the laundry and dirty dishes, the patience it takes to teach, and the sleepless nights, every moment with these two is worth it. It’s the biggest adventure! full of many memories and lots of joy. I wouldn’t trade it for a thing!
Thankful for another day ❤️
