Reflections on Advanced Urology as we embark on 2026. I started this boutique, solo, private practice on Millennium Monday January 3rd, 2000. With a little support from HCA Healthcare and the Women’s Hospital administration we launched this endeavor. We saw 7 patients the first month! After 18 months, HCA let us free and we then truly flew solo ever since.
We see patients all personally with no mid level providers. We have had the same front and back office support for decades now. We answer our phone. We have no call trees or auto- attendants. Some would say we are old school. We are still on paper charts and have never lost a medical record in our history.
What I am most proud of is the fact that we are still here- barely getting by with shrinking reimbursement and ever increasing overhead. We are still here with all the obstacles put in our way by the big greedy insurance companies and the behemoth Indiana hospital systems. But we are still here and still solo. We are still fighting the fight for our patients.
Twenty thousand and thirty six.
20,036 is the next new patient number I will see this coming Monday morning. That number represents unique new patients to my practice since opening. That is the number of people that have trusted me and my staff to care for them, their families and their friends- All physician referred or word of mouth as we really have no marketing per se.
I just turned the corner of life called 60… but I feel more like 45- and have at least 10 more years to give to my coveted, loyal patients. Thank you all for the gift of service. Thank you for trusting Advanced Urology…Happy New Year!
