The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse… but make it relationships.

Relationship researcher John Gottman identified four communication patterns that can predict relationship breakdown if they go unchecked. He called them The Four Horsemen:

⚠️ Criticism – Attacking your partner’s character instead of addressing the issue.
⚠️ Contempt – Insults, sarcasm, eye-rolling, or treating your partner with disrespect.
⚠️ Defensiveness – Shifting blame instead of taking responsibility.
⚠️ Stonewalling – Shutting down and withdrawing from the conversation.

The good news? Each one has an antidote.

✔️ Use a gentle start-up instead of criticism.
✔️ Build a culture of appreciation instead of contempt.
✔️ Take responsibility instead of becoming defensive.
✔️ Practice self-soothing and take breaks instead of stonewalling.

Healthy relationships aren’t about avoiding conflict — they’re about learning how to navigate conflict in a way that protects connection.

Which one do you see most often in relationships around you? 👀

Tennessee’s new public domestic violence registry (Savannah’s Law) raises important questions about accountability, prevention, and rehabilitation. In my latest blog, I share a professional perspective on what this registry means for survivors, perpetrators, and the systems meant to protect communities. Read more: https://wix.to/DAerlSK

Effective January 1, 2026, Tennessee implemented Savannah’s Law, creating the nation’s first public, searchable domestic violence offender registry. Managed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), this registry doesn’t just serve as a legal milestone—it’s a social shift in how we a...

We often say “I love you”…
but are we speaking it in a way the other person can actually feel?

The 5 Love Languages remind us that people give and receive love differently:
💬 Words of Affirmation
🕰 Quality Time
🎁 Gifts
🧹 Acts of Service
🤍 Physical Touch

Love isn’t just about intention—it’s about translation.
When love is expressed in the right language, connection deepens.

Saying “I’m sorry” isn’t always enough—because apologies have languages, too.

People receive apologies differently. What feels sincere to one person may feel empty to another.

The 5 Apology Languages include:
🗣 Expressing Regret – “I’m truly sorry.”
🧠 Accepting Responsibility – “I was wrong.”
🛠 Making Restitution – “How can I make this right?”
📈 Genuinely Repenting – “I’m committed to changing.”
🙏 Requesting Forgiveness – “Will you forgive me?”

A real apology isn’t about ending the conflict—it’s about repairing the relationship.

Understanding apology languages helps reduce defensiveness, rebuild trust, and create safer emotional connections.

👇 Which apology language matters most to you?

The Enneagram isn’t just a personality tool—it’s a mirror.

It shows how we learned to survive, attach, and protect ourselves long before we had the words to explain it. Under stress, each type reacts differently—but none of them are “wrong.”

Used correctly, the Enneagram helps with:
• Emotional regulation
• Relationship patterns
• Triggers and coping responses
• Compassion for yourself and others

Growth doesn’t start with fixing—it starts with understanding.

Why is the 50/50 conversation doing more harm than good? In the latest post, I break down why this debate belongs behind closed doors — and how couples can focus on shared reality, not social performance. Read the short, thoughtful piece and rethink what fairness looks like in your relationship. https://wix.to/ycLHGr1

Some things are better left between you, your partner, and your shared reality. The infamous “50/50” conversation, who pays what, who does what, who brings what to the relationship, continues to dominate timelines, podcasts, and comment sections.
