Jeffery "Woo Woo" Woodgett

Jeffery Earl ‘Woo Woo’ Woodgett, a devoted son, brother, father, and friend passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026 leaving a void in the lives of those who loved him. Born on July 10, 1958 to Frances and Tracey Woodgett Jr., a fraternal twin to Jennifer, and the fifth youngest of eight siblings. His loving nature, quick wit, and infectious laughter endeared his family and friends.

Jeffery graduated from South Side High School and enlisted in the United States Army on May 30, 1979 as a carpentry and masonry specialist. During his time in the Army he met his former wife Fay in Georgia and welcomed their daughter Brittany. After his honorable discharge, Jeffery settled in Indianapolis and continued his service in the Army Reserves and the National Guard retiring in June 2012 with 20+ years of service. Germany held a special place in his heart, being his favorite active duty location.

Jeffery was a dedicated and hard worker, but it was his vibrant personality that truly shone in everything he did. He had an eclectic fashion sense and was recognized by his signature style: black sunglasses, black do-rag, a black hat, and flashy jewelry – often a rhinestone clock necklace and something that sparked conversation, like his iconic Batman hairline.

Jeffery excelled as a student, was an excellent chess player and member of the chess team, he wrestled and completed the United States Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training in high school. Jeffery loved dancing, playing ping pong, and riding his bike. A true jokester at heart, Jeffery loved his family, soul food, and making people laugh. He would often order a sweet potato pie for the holidays and whip up unique dishes (whether you’d eat them or not!). His catchphrases – ‘Hey Pretty’ and ‘I love you bad one’ – will forever be etched in our memories. A diehard New England Patriots fan, he would lovingly rub it in the faces of Colts fans. Jeffery’s absence will be deeply felt, however his legacy will live on through the laughter, love, and joy that he brought to our lives. His memory will be a blessing to us all.

Jeffery was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Marvin, nephew Isiah Woodgett, niece Kendra Woodgett, and half-sisters Traceyna Wilkins, and Alaita Henderson. Surviving family members left to cherish his memory are his daughter Brittany; his six siblings, Tracey Woodgett III, Gregory Woodgett (Vera), Stanley Woodgett (Ramona), Kathy Woodgett, Jennifer Woodgett, and Melvin Woodgett;, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Everything she gave came from a place of deep care and devotion.

Above all, Ingrid possessed an extraordinary gift of communication. She had an innate ability to make anyone feel seen, heard, and valued.
