Awardees receive support their work, along with mentorship to further guide their careers. Mary Charlton, PhD, co-leader of the Cancer Epidemiology and Population Science Program is a previous awardee of the award. Holden's statue is titled “Colors of Courage,” and was created with input from cancer center staff, patients, and members of the Cancer Patient Family Advisory Board.

The design features awareness ribbons in over two dozen colors and patterns to represent different cancer types and roles.

Sadly Bile Duct cancer does not have any major sympotoms in its early stages.

The bile ducts are small and connect the liver and small intestine. They are small and are tucked away. With the tubes being small and tucked away it is hard to be able to see the tumors or cancer cells. Bile Duct cancer is rare but the number of cases has been growing.

Analy is from Sioux City, Iowa. She attended Briar Cliff University with a major in biochemistry and then graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree.

Her interest in cancer research came after her grandfather's cancer diagnosis.

Analy is researching the development of a self-regulating oxygen-releasing material to overcome tumor hypoxia in MPNSTs under James Byrne, MD, PhD.
