A big day for our Everleigh!
Over the last few months we have been working with our pulmonary team to get Evie ready for decannulation!

This morning, Evie had a scope of her upper airway and lungs to ensure that she was ready to take her trach out for good. Just a few hours later, we said “peace out, trach out!”

Today in our Advent devotional we talked about what it means to be blessed and be a blessing to others. I asked each of my kids to write down their response - take a look at Evie’s sweet note 💙

The best “welcome home” crew 💜

Thank you, Jesus for hearing our prayers! Our flights were on time, feelings of anxiousness were minimal, and recovery has been quick and smooth! God is so good!

Surgery #13: VEPTR rod expansion

Ev was a rockstar for surgery today! Dr. Anari expanded both rods in her back. All of the staff is completely smitten with her, Dr. Anari even renamed her to “Princess Evie” in his official OR note 💜

She is on the road to a quick recovery and we plan to be discharged tomorrow. Thank you all for your prayers & support!

We’re on our way to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for Evie’s next surgery! She’ll have her pre-op appointment tomorrow morning and surgery on Friday. Join us in praying for on-time flights, eased nerves, and a quick recovery!

Help us keep our surgery tradition alive! Each time Evie has surgery I ask you to post a photo of your family, pets, a pretty sunset, etc. along with an encouraging comment for us to read during recovery! It fills Ev up to know how many people are praying for her & cheering her on!

This weekend we had the honor of attending the annual Tori’s Angels Gala. 💙 We shared Everleigh’s story, her medical journey, and how Tori’s Angels has been such a blessing to our family—supporting us both financially and through countless prayers during her surgeries. One of the highlights of the night was getting a picture with Tori herself! We are so grateful for this incredible organization and the people who make their mission possible. ✨

Honored to share Everleigh’s journey today at the Group Benefits, Ltd. annual conference luncheon. 💜 I spoke about the incredible impact Tori's Angels Foundation has had on our family—making it possible for us to travel to Philadelphia for Everleigh’s specialized care. We are so thankful for the support that helps Everleigh keep fighting and thriving.

Ev broke her leg earlier this week when her foot got caught on the edge of the slide as she was sliding down, bending it backwards 😩

🌟 Wishes really do come true! 🌟

Yesterday, Evie had the incredible opportunity to take part in the Make-A-Wish Iowa fundraiser Wishes On Deck, a special slow pitch softball game featuring athletes from Iowa and Iowa State! ⚾️

Despite the heat, we had an amazing time cheering on both teams and celebrating the power of wishes. Evie got to throw out the first pitch of the 7th inning and was honored with a Miracle Moment where we were able to share about Evie’s trip to Disney World right before the inning began — a truly unforgettable experience 💫💙

Huge thanks to Make-A-Wish and everyone who helped put on such a meaningful event. The smiles, the cheers, and the love were felt all around.
