What on earth 🌍 are you doing????

It’s always been fun for me to try out different movements and exercises to see how strength, ROM, and neuromuscular control fit into the equation.

Taking an eccentric, unilateral approach to the pull-down movement, allows for an appreciation of how control fits into the scapulohumeral movement pattern.

Not only are you focusing on the controlled upward rotation of the scapula, but your core has to function to brace your upper body to prevent side bend and other compensations.

🥵 BAD POSTURE? WHERE DO YOU START? ⚙

Try implementing these 3 strategies into your postural correction.
1. Build awareness of postural compensations by using a wall and identifying which parts of your body have the greatest challenge staying against the wall.
2. STRETCH!!! enough said. Stretch, massage, roll, and all of the above to decrease restricted/tight muscles.
3. Strengthen muscles that help us maintain a better shoulder complex position (middle trapezius, rhomboids, posterior delt, RTC, and lower trapezius).

Aside from the rhyme fail, start the morning right with this quick stretch.
1️⃣Try to do it in 3 directions (left, forward, right)
2️⃣ Breathe and hold
3️⃣NO PAIN

You like to sleep in the fetal position????

I do!!! But I don’t want to go through the day with tight hips/abs.

WORDS OF WISDOM 🔑

When we suffer an injury/setback, the cascade of thoughts are solely up to us to decide how they will progress.

Start the process of healing sooner rather than later and set small goals/benchmarks for yourself to keep your mindset positive.

If we focus on only the pain, those neural pathways can begin to wire into various memory/emotion based brain centers, potentially leading to chronic/maladaptive pain.

Pain may still be present, but your healing has already begun.

TRAIL RUNS 101: Be prepared!!!

Dealing with musculoskeletal injuries and running on trails that include elevation, various unstable terrain, and carrying sandbags can put a lot of strain on the body.

I have been incorporating massage gun use during my runs to address areas of susceptibility. (I.e. calves/TFL/lateral quads).
