18 years ago I started treating patients in my one room office in downtown Isanti. We sat across from each other on my folding lawn chairs with a box of Kleenex on an upside down box between us. I hadn’t even gone shopping yet … then we waited for my “real” therapy furniture to be delivered. I still have that original furniture … remember the big orange overstuffed chairs and the bird lamp. We grew to nearly 4000 sq feet and treated thousands of people! I feel so blessed! Honored and privileged to serve this community! You will always be covered in prayer if you crossed the threshold of River Counseling. Whether you worked with me, were treated by me, were the family member or friend who knew me, were the client of someone who worked with me…you have been prayed for!! I will miss this place but the joy of being part of it will never dim!

Tomorrow morning we start to sell it all!! Including that original furniture and everything else that has accumulated over the years.
I remember telling my colleagues if we’d get worried about insurance companies not paying…”we’ll just start selling stuff, cuz all we really need is a place to sit and a box of Kleenex…”
There was always enough. God always made sure there was enough.
Our sale runs 8-1 Friday Saturday and Sunday (last weekend in March 2026) and then the doors close, locked behind me, as I walk away with grief and relief. I did it!! Not alone but with people like you who helped me make a difference in the hearts and minds of thousands !!
