🔨🎨 OT Fun in the Clinic! 🎨🔨

This week, we’re working on pincer grasp and bilateral coordination in a super creative way! 🙌

Kids use wooden shapes and tiny nails to hammer their own pictures into a cork board—either by copying a design (boosting those visual-spatial skills 👀) or making their own masterpiece! 🌟

This hands-on activity is not only fun, but also helps strengthen fine motor skills in a structured, supportive clinic setting. 💪💛

In this picture, we are working on postural stability, strengthening and endurance! By putting our hands in different areas around your body it challenges us to maintain balance on the horse. We can increase the challenge by walking around the therapy area while our hands are not stabilized on the horse!

✨ Fun with Purpose! ✨

We love using colorful clothespins to help our kiddos develop their pincer grasp while exploring all kinds of movement! 🌈 These playful pins encourage midline crossing, bilateral coordination, visual scanning, balance, and core control—all while moving through a natural, dynamic environment. 🌀

And the best part? Our little ones get creative by placing the clothespins on their fingers, adding an extra dose of proprioceptive and tactile input for even more sensory fun! 🤸‍♀️💖

During hippotherapy, therapists use the characteristic movements of a horse to provide motor and sensory input. By engaging in activities on the horse that are enjoyable and challenging, children and adults can improve core strength, balance, coordination, posture, and many other skills, while building an unbreakable bond with an amazing animal!

🐠🫧Fine motor fun🐠🫧:
1. Use a plastic sleeve protector and make a water scene with circle bubbles.
2. Use water with some blue paint in a cup
3. Shake it up and use an eye dropper to squeeze and make bubbles on the circles
4. Then have them drag the bubbles together using the eye dropper to make one giant bubble!
5. Make more bubble fun. Take the page out of sleeve and have them color inside the circles!

-visual skills
-eye-hand coordination
-coloring skills
