We have extended our E-Board Application deadline until 12/24 at midnight!

Being a part of the SWI E-Board is a rewarding experience and will give you a greater voice in selecting events and topics to be shared with the student community regarding wellbeing. We highly encourage you to submit an application (it's short!), especially if you are passionate about wellbeing and/or want to have a greater impact on student wellbeing.

Our 2022 SWI E-Board Application is open now until December 17th!

Being a part of the SWI e-board is a rewarding experience and will give you a greater voice in selecting events and topics to be shared with the student community regarding wellbeing. It's that time of year again! Student Wellness Initiative is back with another 🍁seasonal🍁 episode of Bob Ross Paint Nights!

We are hosting a virtual Bob Ross Paint night that you can do from the comfort of your own home. It's time to get together online and let your inner artist shine! We will be holding this event on November 12th at 8pm 🎨

✨SWI Member Spotlight: Elsbeth Kane✨

Congratulations to Elsbeth for being one of our winners! Elsbeth is a member of the 2023 class and is interested in Small Animal GP, Public Health, Internal Medicine or Neurology. She thinks that Student Wellness Initiative is an important and extremely valuable organization because we need student groups that prioritize the whole student and that champions the interests of students beyond academia. Elsbeth believes that it's important to work on balance while you're a student, because the habits that we work on now will carry us through into our early days as practicing veterinarians. She finds that having group activities like the wellness challenge helps her to feel supported in her personal wellness pursuits. Elsbeth works on her wellness by trying hard to be kind to herself. When she wonders “why can't she focus" at 8 PM, she tries to remember that she was just in lecture for seven hours and that, alone, is exhausting work. Elsbeth thinks we forget to give our minds and bodies credit for the demanding lifestyle that we sustain, and it's important to give yourself grace and give it often. She also calls friends, family and loved ones outside of vet school, and is reminded of the beautiful things in her life that she cares about just as much as her career. Finally, Elsbeth enjoys doing small things that bring her joy: like driving over to the clock tower to listen to the bell chimes, getting dinner with friends to bring laughter into her week, taking long walks before around town before to see the world outside, or going to ballet class or salsa social from time to time.

✨SWI Member Spotlight: Hannah Flame✨

Congratulations to Hannah for being one of our winners! Hannah is a member of the 2024 class and is interested in companion animal and emergency medicine. She joined SWI because she is very passionate about wellness and finding ways to balance mental and physical health as a student. SWI has helped her and others by providing resources and fun challenges as a reminder to take care of ourselves, our minds, and our bodies as veterinary students. Hannah believes this sets a strong foundation for students as they carry these values into their professional lives as practicing veterinarians. Her favorite SWI event so far was this 30 Day Step Challenge! Hannah betters her wellness by always make time for running, hiking, and exploring Ithaca with her dog, Amber, for at least 30-60 minutes every day. She also enjoys cooking dinner with my roommates, playing piano, and practicing yoga. Something that helps Hannah is taking Friday nights off from studying. It gives her brain a break, resets her focus, and provides her time to focus on hobbies she doesn’t always have time for during the week.

Starting TODAY, we are excited to announce our social media 👟30 Day Step Challenge! 👟

To start, please think of and set a daily step goal you'd like to meet every day for the month of September. Anyone who meets their set goal all 30 days (weather permitting) in September will be entered to win a new pair of running sneakers such as Nikes or Cloves or two well-being baskets.

In order to be entered to win one of our amazing prizes, you must:
1. Make sure you follow our SWI instagram account
2. TODAY, make a story on Instagram with your daily step goal and tag us at
3. Tag at least once a week In an Instagram story or post featuring your walking/running content
4. Direct Message your daily steps every week in September

Good luck, have fun, and enjoy the nice weather while it lasts!

⭐️Member Spotlight: Karianna Crowder⭐️

Congratulations to Karianna for being one of our winners! Karianna is a member of the 2021 graduating class and is interested in small animal emergency medicine. Her favorite SWI event is our Bob Ross Paint Night! To promote her wellbeing while being a veterinary student, Karianna never studied on Fridays, and in the before times, was a regular . She also always made time for sports, swing dancing, enjoying the gorges, and hanging with her brothers!

⭐️Member Spotlight: Leia Chung⭐️

Congratulations to Leia for being one of our winners! Leia is a member of the 2024 graduating class and is interested in mixed or small animal medicine. She joined SWI to take part in lots of fun activities to practice good wellness and engage in events that are not animal-related. Leia’s favorite SWI event so far is outdoor yoga! In order to focus on her wellness, she tells herself to stop studying after a certain time in the day to make time for her hobbies and just mindless activities to give her brain a breather. Leia also tries to do something fun with her friends on the weekends like going to the farmers market, having a movie night, or just lounging around and chatting. This gives her brain a break and removes herself from academics completely for a period of time!

⭐️Member Spotlight: Laci Taylor⭐️

Congratulations to Laci for being one of our Winners! Laci is a member of the 2022 graduating class and is interested in zoological medicine. Laci loves the innovative ways that SWI creates spaces for students to think about and improve their wellbeing practices. She joined SWI because in addition to it being a great way to focus on her own wellbeing, participating in the events is a great way to collaborate with and meet students from other classes that she normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to!
