🌟 Staff Spotlight: Meet Our Executive Director! 🌟

We are excited to officially introduce Samantha “Sam” Pankonin, the Executive Director at Charter Senior Living of Hasmer Lake!

Sam’s journey in healthcare began when she was just 16 years old, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in long-term care in Dane County. At 19, she transitioned into the assisted living and memory care world, where she worked closely with a registered nurse and administrator who became incredible mentors and helped shape her leadership style.

For the past four years, Sam has served as an Executive Director overseeing assisted living, memory care, RCAC, and independent living communities. She is deeply passionate about serving others and creating an environment where residents feel safe, supported, and truly at home. She also believes strongly in building caring, collaborative teams that work together to provide the best possible experience for residents and families.

Sam earned her degree from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Finance. She recently relocated from the Madison area to the Milwaukee area and married her amazing husband, Daniel, in August of 2025.

At home, Sam and Daniel stay busy with their two dogs—Xena, a Bullmastiff, and Theo, a French Bulldog. Outside of work she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family. She loves raspberry tea, pasta, relaxing beach days, and unwinding with shows like Grey’s Anatomy and The Pitt. Christmas is also her favorite holiday!

When residents see Sam around the community, she loves stopping to chat about their hobbies, families, favorite music, movies, and the stories that make them who they are.

To Sam, “Enhancing the Human Spirit” means helping people feel respected, cared for, and valued, while creating a positive environment where residents feel comfortable, supported, and happy.

We are so excited to have Sam leading our community and look forward to the continued growth and positivity here at Charter Senior Living of Hasmer Lake. 💙

🌟 **Staff Spotlight** 🌟

This week we are shining the spotlight on **Gale Owsley**, our amazing **Environmental Services Director** here at **Charter Senior Living of Hasmer Lake**!

Gale has been working in senior living and healthcare for an incredible **25 years**, bringing dedication, experience, and a friendly face to our community every day. One of Gale’s favorite parts of his job is **listening to the wonderful stories our residents share** and spending time with them—especially during the **men’s luncheon**!

When asked what he hopes residents and families feel when they walk through our doors, Gale said he wants everyone to feel **safe and like they have found a place they can truly call home**. ❤️

Outside of work, Gale enjoys **building RC vehicles, riding bikes on trails or tracks, and traveling to Chicago whenever he can**. He’s also the proud dad of **four daughters** and has a **Rhodesian Ridgeback dog** who keeps life fun at home.

A self-proclaimed **foodie**, Gale says living in a house full of women means there’s usually more food left for him! 😄 His favorite holidays include **Halloween, Day of the Dead, and St. Patrick’s Day**, and when it comes to drinks you’ll likely see him with **coffee or a Red Bull Zero**.

For Gale, **Enhancing the Human Spirit** means spending time with family and friends and seeing our residents **smile and be happy every day**.

If you see Gale around the community, be sure to say hello—he’s always happy to chat about just about anything!

We had a VERY special visitor make a pit stop in our Memory Care this afternoon… and let’s just say he was a little short, a little mischievous, and may or may not have left a trail of giggles behind him! 🍀

Our leprechaun stopped by to spread some Irish cheer, share a few laughs, and remind us that the real treasure isn’t gold… it’s the beautiful moments we create together every day. 💚

Santa has officially stepped into the role of Resident Ambassador, and we could not think of a more perfect person. Her positivity, loving heart, and caring spirit shine through in everything she does. She welcomes others with warmth, kindness, and a smile that can light up a room. Bryan is truly the heartbeat of so many of our daily activities. From encouraging residents to join in the fun, to stepping up and leading morning exercise when needed, he brings energy, positivity, and dedication to everything he does. His willingness to help wherever needed and his genuine care for our residents make him such a huge part of our community. We are beyond lucky and blessed to have him here at Hasmer Lake!
