Creatine isn’t just a gym supplement anymore.

New research is looking at its role in brain energy, cognitive resilience, and even symptoms tied to sleep deprivation and hormonal shifts. But like most things in brain health, it’s not as simple as “more is better.”

This post is just the starting point.

I break down what the science actually says (who may benefit, how it works in the brain, and what people often get wrong) in this week’s newsletter.

If this kind of information matters to you, the full deep dive is on Substack. 🧠

Because this is when your daily habits start shaping your brain for decades to come. Sleep, food, movement, stress, and environment all play a role in how your brain functions now and how resilient it will be later.

The good news? Small, consistent choices in your 20s can make a huge difference long term.

Save this carousel for your own brain health notes 🧠

This year, I asked my college students to share the top lessons they learned in my brain health class, and the insights they shared were both practical and surprising. From simple tweaks to their diet, to daily habits that help focus and memory, these are lessons that anyone can try to support their brain.

Some of their takeaways might make you rethink what you thought you knew about brain health... and others are simple reminders of the little things that really matter.

💡 Swipe through to see all 14 lessons, and don’t forget to save this carousel for future reference.

What’s one thing you learned about your brain this year? Comment below, I’d love to hear.

🔻LOVE the new dietary guidelines?
⚠️Or do you STRONGLY DISAGREE?

🧠Either way, I’d like to gently remind everyone what the large body of brain health nutrition science says:

People age with healthier brains and have less dementia if they eat from these neuroprotective food groups:

🫐Berries
🌱Leafy green
🥦Vegetables
🌾Whole grains
🫘Beans and legumes
🌰Nuts and seeds
🐟Fish and seafood
🫒Extra virgin olive oil
☕️Coffee and tea

While limiting or avoiding these foods:
🍔Processed and fast foods
🧁Pastries and sweets
🧋Sweetened or artificially sweetened drinks
🧈Full fat dairy products, especially butter and processed cheese
🥓Red meat, especially processed meat
🍸Alcohol

What we eat is a powerful factor in preventing, fending off, or slowing progression of Alzheimer’s, vascular dementia, Parkinson’s, and other neurodegenerative diseases.

Eating this way works for most dietary preferences: vegetarian, vegan/WFPB, pescatarian, omnivore, flexitarian.

Take the best care of your brains, friends.

🧠💥Here’s a simple exercise to improve your brain health in 2026.

Choose to move forward without the baggage that adds to your cognitive burden.

That’s just what my friends and I did on New Year’s Day 2026.

🔖We wrote down the habits, thoughts, consumptions, and even relationships, that have been stressing us out.

Stress of all types can tax the brain and accelerate the aging process.

🧠🍥Make space in the brain for beneficial neural pathways.

🗯️Tell me: What would you toss it into the fire?Write it down👇🏽

✨Cheers to your brain health in 2026, friends.
Come see me on Substack for more ways to take the best care of your brain.

Love,
Annie
