Today, on National Rural Health Day, we celebrate the resilience, dedication, and spirit of rural communities like ours. And this year, we have an especially meaningful reason to give thanks.

We want to extend a deep and sincere thank-you to Congressman Shomari Figures for securing $1 million in appropriations funding for the Jackson Health Care Authority and Jackson Medical Center. This investment is more than a dollar amount. It is a lifeline for our patients, our families, and our future that will allow us to purchase advanced diagnostic imaging equipment, repair and renovate existing hospital infrastructure, and enhance safety and security for both patients and hospital staff.

This support goes far beyond improving a facility - it strengthens our ability to care for our neighbors, support our healthcare workers, and ensure that high-quality healthcare remains accessible close to home. It truly makes a lasting difference.

Our providers pour into our community in ways even outside of the clinics and hospital! Thank you, Jennifer Dowling, for taking time to encourage local students exploring careers in healthcare—and thank you to JA for the opportunity! And truly—who knows? These could be the future nurses, providers, and medical professionals serving our community in the next decade! 💙

Mrs. Marshall’s Senior Career Prep class had the honor of welcoming Family Nurse Practitioner Jennifer Dowling to campus! Mrs. Dowling spoke with students who are considering the medical field as their next step after graduation. She shared her real-world experiences, offered valuable guidance, and took time to answer the many questions our seniors had about nursing, college programs, and life in healthcare. We are so grateful for her time, her encouragement, and her willingness to invest in our soon to be graduates!

The 2025 Jackson Medical Center Tree Lighting Ceremony was hosted by the Jackson Medical Center Auxiliary on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Ms Jennifer Ryland opened the program with a warm welcome on behalf of Jackson Medical Center. Councilman Darron Bolen spoke on behalf of the Jackson City Council. Musical selections were provided by Randy and Terri Grimes and the children and grandchildren of JMC and FMC employees.

Dr. Steve Furr recognized the Memorial and Honorarium Lights purchased this year.

Thank you to the JMC Auxiliary for all of the efforts throughout the year to provide support and needed equipment and supplies for Jackson Medical Center. We are truly grateful for your service to our community and our hospital.

Immediately after our Tree Lighting Ceremony, the jolliest Santa around will be stopping by for a special visit! 🎅✨

Bring the family, snap a photo, and share your Christmas wishes. Santa will be waiting in his cozy chair by the tree.

And of course… milk & cookies will be served! 🍪🥛

The JMC family is grateful for our staff and board, our healthcare providers and the communities we serve. It was such a blessing today to take a moment to enjoy a wonderful meal together.
