Still searching for a donor. Even if you can't donate, you can still help. I made more business cards with Mark's info. For those interested in passing them out at church, local coffee shops, gyms or anywhere else you frequent, please send a message with your address and I will ship you some cards from vistaprint. Thanks!

Thank you to everyone that has been tested and has offered continued support as we try to find Mark a kidney donor.

Mark is listed at Tampa General Hospital and Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Moving forward, anyone interested in donating will be directed to the Mayo Clinic donor program since they have a larger program. Please go to mayoclinic.org/livingdonor to get started.

If you applied to be a donor for Mark through Tampa General and were told you did not match, please consider applying through Mayo Clinic. They have a large living paired kidney exchange program. This means you do not need to match Mark. It does not matter your blood type or antibodies for this program. They pair up other potential donors and patients needing a kidney so that more matches are made. This means you would help more than one person get a kidney transplant!

Also, all costs associated with testing and time off work to recover from the procedure would be taken care of. It will not cost anything to be Mark's donor!

In one of the largest living-donor kidney transplant programs in the United States, Mayo Clinic specialists have extensive experience with living donation.

Today more than 112,000 people are waiting for an organ transplant and over 83% of those are waiting for a kidney. Increasing the number of possible living donors is one of the best ways to reduce this waiting list for kidney transplant. Paired donation kidney transplant is a way [...]

Friends and family, if you are interested in being a living paired exchange donor for Mark, please visit mayoclinic.org/livingdonor to get started.

For those of you that already were tested for Mark at Tampa General Hospital, and still wish to be a potential donor, please consider going through the process at Mayo Clinic. Mayo has a larger living donor program than Tampa, and thinks that if Mark can get at least two people in the paired exchange program, they could find a donor in the next 12 months.

All hospital expenses are covered by Mark's insurance, and any associated travel and time of work will be taken care of.

Mark will be going up to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville tomorrow to dual enroll in their transplant program, along with Tampa General.
Mayo has a larger paired living kidney exchange program than TGH, so it could increase his odds of being offered a kidney.

Mayo Clinic allows more than one person to enter the paired exchange program on behalf of Mark, allowing more opportunities for a match. We will post info on how that process works for anyone interested once we get back from Jacksonville.

Here is a brief history about dialysis, and why we are still falling short without funds for medical innovation.

The Kidney Project is currently developing a small, implantable artificial kidney that would reduce the need for traditional dialysis as well as kidney transplants. They need funding in order to see this project through, if you are able, please consider donating to an important cause.

It is unacceptable that kidney dialysis technology has changed little in the past five decades.

As of today Mark has been officially listed for a deceased donor. The average wait time on this list for Mark's blood type is 3.8 years, but due to Mark's antibodies, it could be even longer.

We still are looking for a live kidney donor, since they last longer and will have a better outcome for Mark long term.

Please continue to spread the word that we are still searching for possible donors!

Another way to get involved to help Mark is to urge Congress to pass full coverage of kidney transplant medications. Currently, transplant patients are only eligible for three years of coverage under Medicare.

Let’s make this the year we finally guarantee Medicare’s coverage of immunosuppressive medications! Urge your members of Congress to support H.R. 5534 and today: https://bit.ly/351YzqD
