Today kicks off Tinnitus Awareness Week!
According to the American Tinnitus Association (ATA)- Tinnitus is the perception of sound when there is no external noise present. Commonly referred to as "ringing in the ears," it can also be perceived as buzzing, hissing, whistling, swooshing, clicking, and, in rare cases, music. Tinnitus is one of the most common health conditions in the country with an estimated 25 million Americans affected. Although there is no cure for tinnitus, a comprehensive hearing evaluation and medical examination can help determine if it is the result of underlying hearing loss. The use of noise generators and/or hearing assistive devices can be helpful in management of tinnitus.
Getting your hearing tested is an important first step in the evaluation of tinnitus. Call us at 904-202-6410 to schedule your appointment!
