Yoga is a very important piece to overall health and during pregnancy…
I could not have said Jeannie’s words better myself and this is what Doula Vonda Birth Services offer… all of these… intellectual, social, spiritual, physiological preparation for birth and motherhood.
I have been working on healing my own pains and traumas for years and something I wish I would have known the importance of prior to having children.
I use some of the tools I have learned over the years in my yoga classes and I am open to talking about additional tools that are available for you to go down your own healing path if that is something you are interested in.
Vonda also uses tools in her mindful childbirth education class.
Pregnancy is much more than just preparing yourself for the day of labor and birth, it is setting up your family!

“The true path is in the integration of our sun and moon forces, dark and light, strength and fluidity. A balance, a union.
Discipline is very much needed during pregnancy, not only from the ritual aspect, but to prepare for the great discipline required in caring for a baby.
You can choose daily whether to do prenatal yoga or not- but you have to “do” a baby every day
How can we prepare ourselves best for a flowing childbirth and mothering/ nursing experience?
Reading many books (intellectual preparation)
Hanging out with happy mothers and babies (social preparation)
Practicing prenatal yoga (spiritual preparation)
& attending natural childbirth classes (physiological preparation)
These are all integral to an excellent preparation – yet, if we still carry the tissue tensions of our unfelt pains, trauma in being born and being mothered, these will act as obstacles to feeling the joyful, natural rhythms in becoming a family.” These wise words are from Jeannie Parvati in her book “Prenatal Yoga & Natural Birth” from 1974
