Active: “tending to progress or to cause“

Not strict, legalistic adherence. Not ‘do or die’.

Tending toward progress, resetting when you need to, giving grace and refocusing on that goal.

We all have different plans for how our lives will pan out. And then God laughs. If you asked me even ten years ago, I had a very different idea of what my life would look like. As of today, I’m cancer free having…

Our bedroom is a mess, the dishes need to be done, laundry (always) needs cleaning… the list is long but I feel like crud. While I previously would have pushed myself through the headache and congestion, I’m choosing to have tea, lay in bed and give myself time.

When did taking a pill and covering our symptoms become the norm? I understand there’s a time and place where that might be necessary but if you can, listen to what your body is telling you and give it what it needs. It’s a natural instinct I believe we were born with but becomes suppressed and we just stop listening. Headaches, stomach aches, congestion, repetitive pangs of discomfort, fatigue.. they’re all telling you something.

So today, I’m listening. With that, goodnight 😴

2011 : 2023, this guy has shown up every time and has never stopped growing with me. Valentines is a rather silly day to me but I’ll still take the opportunity to love on this guy and let him know how thankful his family is for him ❤️

Have you ever observed your friend and thought about how they rely so heavily on their spouse or immediate family members during every day life? Or acknowledged that college friend who loves and seeks adventure without little reliance on others? It has a lot to do with Attachment Theory. These are deep rooted patterns we learn early on and they translate into relationships we have throughout the entirety of our lives. I’m blessed to say that my parents were consistent, loving and pushed me outside my comfort zones (in a healthy way) and my Attachment style would *usually be considered a Secure one. Learning and understanding our own Attachment Style can really help us grow and change our friendships, work relationships and intimate relationships. I hadn’t heard of it prior to and it makes so much sense now looking inwardly and witnessing the people around me and how they interacted with their circle. I linked a free Attachment Style Quiz in my stories/‘Self’ Highlight 🙌🏼 If 2023 will be anything, i want it to be a continuation of driving deep and growth.

I’ve started journaling. It’s been forced to say the least. I’ve read a lot of the benefits and they definitely do not fall short: improving memory (which is wonderful as mine is trash since chemo), alleviates stressors that are encountered regularly, cultivates gratitude which I think we can all use a bit more of and it even helps you sleep better. It’s 💯 not something I wanted to sign up for but I must admit I see and feel the benefits.

I’ll be sharing some of my journal prompts on here if you one day decide to pick up a notebook and dive inward for a bit. I don’t write every single day so I’m working on consistency but I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you are an avid journal-er, what’s helped you in your writing?

Is journaling something you’d try?

Thankful for local elderberry syrup as we gear up for the beautiful bipolar weather that is Florida and holiday travel.

These warm-then-cold days definitely disrupt this family’s systems and we end up with snotty noses, sore throats and just overall cruddiness.

I’ve tried quite a few Elderberry syrups from different brands and this one is the only thus far that my kids like— it has a sweeet, honey undertone that’s so good 🤍 I’ve slowly been trying to faze out traditional over-the-counter meds and switching to natural, plant based remedies wherever we can and this one will 💯 be a staple! Do y’all have a favorite brand? What else do you use for cold season?
