Thinking surgery might be your only option for Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP)? Think again! There are ways to ease symptoms and support your pelvic health without having surgery.

Conservative strategies for POP generally fall into two big areas:
1️⃣ Lifestyle Changes – small daily habits that protect your pelvic floor and reduce pressure
2️⃣ Support & Strengthening – targeted exercises and support devices to ease symptoms

Yes, some people will still need surgery, especially if symptoms are moderate to severe. But even then, these strategies can help you feel stronger, more comfortable, and reduce the risk of POP worsening over time.

It’s the first of the month which means it’s time to ! 🍋🥜🥝

Once a month, you should check yourself to know what your normal is so you can better recognize if something looks or feels unusual. A good way to remember it is to do it on the first of the month or if you menstruate, do it a week after your menstrual cycle each month.

✅ Check your tissues up top (chest, breast) and down below (testicles, v***a)
👀 Look in a mirror to check if your skin and tissues are their usual size, shape, and color. Check for any unusual drainage or discharge.
👆🏾 Use a firm, smooth touch with the pads of your fingers to feel for any lumps, skin changes, new tenderness, or firm and tender lymph nodes.

💡If you notice something unusual, don’t panic, but let your medical provider know. It’s important to know your body! Get to know it better by looking and touching each month.

Drop a 👍 in the comments if you checked yourself!

With over 18 million cancer survivors in the U.S. alone, cancer survivorship deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated. Not just this month, but every day.

As a pelvic health and oncology physical therapist, I see firsthand how powerful recovery can be when people have access to the care they need. But not everyone gets that chance. Racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and other underserved groups still face real barriers in cancer care.

We need to change that, because every survivor deserves to heal, thrive, and feel seen.

❤️ Like and share this post to help spread awareness and support survivors everywhere this month and beyond.

Lying down in certain positions can help relieve pelvic organ prolapse (POP) symptoms by reducing pressure, but symptom relief is just one piece of the puzzle. 🧩

For long-term support and symptom improvement, active treatment is key. That means exercises that strengthen the pelvic floor and core, improve pressure management, and train your body to move and breathe in a way that supports your organs. These strategies can help reduce heaviness, bulging, and discomfort over time.
