Hi everyone, I'm Tabi, otherwise known as The Herb Nerd if you follow me on Instagram or TikTok. My story of herbalism is unique in the way that it branched off of another passion of mine- birth. I was a practicing birth doula who was tired of a failed system. Women’s health options are lacking in so many ways, and many women are left with little to no help from basic ailments. I heard a podcast that mentioned vaginal steaming… and from there I felt I found a promising hope for women worldwide. Once I became certified to do vaginal steams I realized that in order to fully help the women I was working with I would need to learn more about the herbs I was using, which made me happy, because from a young age I was drawn to plants and found it mesmerizing how people used them in medicinal and spiritual ways. The older I grew the more interested I became in caring for plants and creating healthy soil and environments; learning all I could about creating the healthiest earth around me and my children. It made sense for me therefore to immerse myself in the herbal world and learn all I possibly could, so that I in turn could help heal women further. Once I began studying herbalism I then realized that this is what I was meant to do all along. With herbs I have found a way to bridge my passion for plants, astrology, and health. I have studied clinical herbalism, as well as astro herbalism, and feel that I have a greater understanding of human beings as a whole; mind, body, and spirit. I still work within the birthing community where I support women through both birth and postpartum, but would like to share the wisdom and power of herbal medicine with all walks of life, which is why Nettles Herbs was created. I am a mom of three beautiful souls who aims to make the world better for them and all the future generations. I am honored that you are here letting me help you.

We’ve learned a lot, & continue to learn every day. For instance- I learned I need about triple the amount of tomato’s for 7 full quart jars of tomato juice. As it is, I was beyond excited to have my first ever canning experience with homegrown ‘maters

Many great changes have occurred & I’ve been so busy living & soaking them in that I haven’t posted here for some time ~ the nature hasn’t stopped though & we have some very exciting life updates. Here’s a little before & after of our chicken coop ~ as well as some photos of our amazing chickens (I may be biased but I think these chickens are gorgeous).

My Story

Hi everyone, I'm Tabi. I began my journey into wanting to help women in the birth world after my first birth with my son. I struggled finding helpful information and support, and experienced a very rough time adjusting to new motherhood. Determined to have a better outcome with subsequent pregnancies and helping to prevent others from having the same lack of support and knowledge, I began to learn anything and everything I could about birth.

After discovering what a doula was from a local midwife, I immediately knew that that was the path I was meant to go down. I began attending births and became certified in 2018. Each birth I’ve attended felt like an honor. I am forever in awe at the strength and unrelenting love I get to witness.

I myself gave birth to two more sweet souls- my second birth was a birth center birth and was an extremely peaceful, healing experience, and then two years later I gave birth to my third child at home.

Because I had a hard postpartum with my first, and struggled breastfeeding, I decided to encapsulate my own placenta. I noticed a great difference between not taking my placenta capsules vs. taking them- my hormonal fluctuation improved after taking them postpartum, and I was able to breastfeed with no problems of supply. Since I experienced such great results I knew that placenta encapsulation was an additional service that I wanted to offer to mamas so that they would have an easier transition into motherhood.
