Jamestown TN the Good the Bad and the Ugly

I recently joined several Facebook groups focused on our local area. One evening, my neighborhood experienced a strong smell of hot electrical wires, but no fire was visible. I promptly posted about the incident on one of these groups, but it took approximately a day for the post to be approved. Assuming the administrator was busy, I posted an update to inform readers that the smell had dissipated fairly quickly and the cause remained unknown. However, this update also took an entire day to be posted. Consequently, I posted another update, inquiring about the delay in posting my concerns, as this issue could have had severe consequences for the neighborhood. While I would have dialed 911 if a fire were visible, I believed this incident warranted timely notification. I even provided the street name in the original post to facilitate awareness among local residents. My husband used to be a Volunteer Fireman (retired now) with Station 422, 29Palms CA and my father was a Volunteer Fireman as well, with East Meadow Fire Fept NY so I have a fairly strong history of being fire aware so I feel my fire concerns should not be taken lightly.

I joined a local Facebook group by the name of People of Jamestown TN and occasionally I post on there. Someone was racing a vehicle nearby tonight on a main road close by to us that was very loud so I posted about it on that group. Well the Admin has yet to post it! Meanwhile our internet with Twin Lakes Internet suddenly then went on and off 3 x after that which was very unusual and one of my grown kids came to me telling me that they were having a hard time accessing their work schedule due to it. So I posted on that group about that too which at this rate with the Admin taking their time with letting the posts to go thru to be posted, well by the time they do post it, it will be old news and i doubt others responses will be helpful. Luckily the loud vehicle in the neighborhood stopped being loud, and the internet is back on by now. Still it was 2 unusual things that happened. Oh and right after that loud vehicle a neighbor nearby started shooting off a gun a number of times. So several alarming things happened all on the same night. I sure would’ve appreciated having a better local group I could depend upon to ask if anyone else heard what was going on near us so we could learn what was going on. I thought our neighborhood & town was more respectful than this. We have lived here for over 8 years. I might end up removing myself from that group at this rate.

Pet peeve (now mind you we live on 1.3 acres so this shouldn’t be a problem I would think): a neighbor has been revving their motorcycle at times it sounds like late at night (it’s after 10pm).

My adult daughter asked me to call Dr Connie Lee’s office here to find out for her how much it would cost for an office visit for someone with no health insurance so I called. This doctors office comes with very high ratings for this area. The woman who answered the phone said she was having trouble hearing me. She switched to a different phone. She said she was still having trouble hearing me. I did manage somehow to get across to her our need for a price quote for an office visit and she started rattling off prices but she kept adding on to it that this amount or that amount didn’t include shots. ??? I thought to myself whenever we go to a doctors office we never ask them about a cost for a shot. My kids aren’t infants anymore. so I didn’t know what the heck she was talking about and being she said she was having trouble hearing me it seemed useless for me to try and ask her what she was talking about to do with shots. I felt quite frustrated in the end. They made me feel like I was dealing with a Veteranarian’s office for animals instead of a doctors office.

Ok I’ll do the first one...I went to the local Urgent Care (Fast Pace Urgent Care) to have them help me change a bandage on my leg. They had signs on the door about the Covid-19 threat. They gave me a clip board with forms to fill out and told me they aren’t allowing anyone to sit in the waiting room so I would have to go back out to my car to fill them out. I didn’t mind so I took the forms and clip board out to my car where I sat with my son and filled out the forms. They also told me that they would call me when it was my turn to be seen. I had to go in and out a few times or have my son go in and out for me as I have been having trouble walking and they wanted my insurance card and I.D. With being made to wait outside I did not feel comfortable leaving my Drivers License & Insurance card with them so I waited there at the desk till they entered my information into their computer and then gave me back my ID and Insurance card. 3 vehicles of people were there before me. They were attended to and left. Still no phone call from them arrived in for me. It reminded me of how the Veterinarians treated us while we were in Kingman AZ last year for our dogs. (But that was an Animal Hospital.) A van drove up and parked next to us and a man got out and went in to the Urgent Care. We saw them give him the same clipboard of forms and then he sat down in one of their chairs in the waiting room and filled the forms out and then they took him to an exam room immediately afterwards. Meanwhile I am sitting outside in my car with my son still waiting for them to call me. They never called. The man that had just gone in exited then and they still didn’t call me in. My son went in and came back out to tell me that they said I was next and that they had tried to call me. We were talking to my daughter at home by Fb IM while this was going on and she checked with my husband at home as well to see if they had called him but they hadn’t. I was extremely insulted and hurt. I am a Christian woman and don’t deserve to be treated that way. I had my son go back in and tell them I was leaving and then we did. What a waste of time.
