Keratoconus is a progressive corneal disease that causes a thin, cone shaped eye, and leads to poor vision in many cases. Management for vision of keratoconus may include specialty lenses like RGPs and Sclerals. This photo shows an OCT scan of a scleral lenses on top of a cornea with a posterior cone. The cornea is not perfectly round and therefore bends light unfavorably to cause blur, halos, and distortion. The scleral creates a new front surface to the eye and can help improve vision.

Unfortunately, these deposits were secondary to an allergic reaction, but that was easily remedied by removing the allergen (his contact lens cleaner).
