"That the flag of the United States shall be of thirteen stripes of alternate red and white, with a union of thirteen stars of white in a blue field, representing the new constellation."

This resolution was adopted by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. Presidents Woodrow Wilson and Calvin Coolidge both issued proclamations to set aside June 14 for the observation of National Flag Day; Congress finally approved the national observance and it was signed into law by President Harry Truman in August 1949.

Our flag has changed several times as our nation has grown ... display it with pride!
