Science to the Station is headed to Kansas City: November 3–5, 2026! Start making your plans now!

This year’s theme? Vintage Vegas. Because if we’re going to spend a few days talking about firefighter health, occupational science, and research that actually changes practice, we might as well lean into the fun a little too.

Science to the Station brings together researchers, clinicians, and fire service professionals who care about one thing: making the job safer and healthier through evidence.

It’s where data meets experience.
Where research gets translated into real-world decisions.
And where the people asking the questions are often the same ones doing the job.

Kansas City in November.
Good science.
Great conversations.
And maybe a few Vegas-inspired surprises...
More details coming soon!

For now… save the date!

Where does true hope come from? A great article by our faith-based peer support partners at Rescued and Restored.

When people call 9-1-1, our help is their hope. Because of hope, we endure. But what do we do when hope ends with us feeling hopeless?

Congratulations to Pulaski County FRSST and Honey's First Responder Mission! Honey is now certified by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs and has her Canine Good Citizen certification as well. She is Missouri Patriot Paws very first dually trained dog in Therapy and ADA tasks for PTSD. She is now available to assist other agency personnel. What an awesome resource for our first responders!

Honey's story began in August of 2025 when Missouri Patriot Paws arranged for her to become a member of Pulaski County FRSST. Little did we know that Honey would steal the hearts of everyone she met. Her calming presence when she walks into a room begins her process of providing love and support to those who are in need.

We said we were going to make science usable! And the new infographic is out!

Thanks to our team of nerds the first edition of Breaking Science from Science to the Station now comes with a downloadable infographic you can actually use and understand. Wild... we know...

Just like our first Breaking Science one-pager, this infographic tackles the study results of PFAS exposure in U.S. firefighters and highlights something we don’t talk about enough:

Exposure is not random.
It’s shaped by behavior and policy.

The study identified key factors linked to PFAS levels: including personal behaviors (like blood or plasma donation and drinking water source) and department-level policies (like on-scene decon and gear cleaning programs).

Translation?
What you do matters.
What your department prioritizes matters.
And good policy is a health intervention.

This infographic breaks down:
• What increases PFAS levels
• What reduces PFAS levels
• Immediate actions you can take
• Why leadership decisions change exposure outcomes

Short. Practical. Evidence-based.

Download it. Print it. Share it. Use it in training. Put it on a bulletin board. Send it to your chief. Send it to your city manager. Send it to your estranged pet-sitter if you're feeling bold.
