Dietetic intent Elizabeth Killeen highlights her preceptor Alyssa Smolen (our co communications chair of NJAND)

Elizabeth is completing her dietetic internship at Saint Elizabeth University. She completed her undergraduate studies at .

This is what Elizabeth had to say about Alyssa: “Alyssa had very good advice, was very personable, kind and flexible throughout my rotation at Newark Beth Israel for community health. She is a top person in this field, and I was a personal individual. She inspires me to be true to myself throughout my internship”

This is the advice she felt was important- “To listen to my heart, and what I really want to do rather than listening to those who think they know what I should do.”

Elizabeth graduates in May and completes her dietetic internship then!

Stephanie Sawiris completed her New York Distance Dietetic Internship (NYDDI).

She is highlighting her preceptor Linda Logan.

This is what she has to share about Linda: “It’s hard to pick one thing, honestly. However, I love how she always reminds me to think of the bigger picture before letting something small throw me off. “

“She empowers me to be confident and showcase what I can do while constantly helping me grow in an edifying way. She constantly encourages without putting down. She’s the epitomy of a teacher and a friend and knows exactly when to be which.”

This is what Stephanie is up to now: “hired as a Clinical Nutrition Liason, a position she created for me, so I can continue to learn as I get my verification statement to take my exam.”

In honor of we are highlighting some memorable mentors who have shaped us.

Sarah Davis RD completed her dietetic internship through the Rutgers ISPP program.

Sarah is highlighting Minal Khapre. She was her preceptor for her dialysis rotation.

This is what Sarah has to say about her leadership: “She always told me not to make things more complicated than they needed to be. I have a tendency to do this in so many areas of my life, but her advice was particularly helpful during my delays rotation because the kidneys are complicated and I was so nervous! But she assured me I knew what I was doing”

“She is truly one of the kindest people I have ever met!! And she is passionate about her job as an RD and that she loved helping people and making them feel safe, welcome, and cared for.”

What is Sarah up to now: She is currently working as a Food Farmacy dietitian for Newark Beth Israel medical center. She runs the food Farmacy and provides nutrition counseling. She says it is incredibly rewarding!

You may already be familiar with our breakout sessions - where you attend a presentation and learn from an expert speaker. 

This year we’re adding something new: Roundtables! 
Roundtables are small, interactive discussions where attendees can share ideas, ask questions, and learn from each other in a more conversational setting. 

Both are great ways to learn - we’re excited to offer even more opportunities to connect and share ideas at this year’s Annual Meeting!

🥕In 2025, SNAP helped approximately 800,000 New Jerseyans afford nourishing food.

🥦As dietitians and health care professionals it’s our responsibility to assist and best help our clients, especially if they let us know that they are food insecure or have trouble accessing food.
