Not too long ago, North Jersey had zero birth center options. Now families have real choices—offering a beautiful middle ground between hospital and home birth. More options mean more autonomy, more informed decisions, and more opportunities for families to have the kind of birth experience that is right for them.

This photo popped up in my memories today.

My phenomenal doula sisters from the Hudson Perinatal community doula program — and yes, that’s me in the photo, breastfeeding my third son. He was our little class mascot… and our official breastfeeding and babywearing model.

I left my corporate career after I had him, completed the community doula fellowship and haven’t looked back. Being a doula has filled me in ways I didn’t even know I needed. Every day, I witness new life… not just in the babies being born, but in the women becoming mothers — powerful, vulnerable, transformed.

It’s sacred. It’s beautiful. It’s raw. Sometimes it’s brutal. And it is always, always an honor to be invited into that space.
