Looking forward to sharing how simple movement, breath, and connection can change your life.

Power is being returned to the people and this is just one more avenue.

Making small decisions daily until you look back and see how far you've come-- this is the magic of life.

If you're in the San Diego area, come on down to for a workshop on releasing tension and restrictions from your body's fascia.

The more we understand all parts of our physiological systems, the clearer it becomes that everything is connected.

Wear comfortable clothes, bring grip socks if you have them, and your water bottle.

Let's explore how to make daily life flow more easily.

Be the hero in your own health!!

Let's end "Yoga with a Twist" with Vira Parampara (part of the hero series) mixed with some wrist releases and a nice vagal reset.

The hands hold a lot of power. They heal, create, communicate, etc. By releasing the wrists we can jump start the flow of blood and energy back into the hands so they can continue to serve us.

The vagus nerve is responsible for modulating the autonomic nervous system. It can be used to bring down stress and regulate the other bodily systems that we often take for granted. If you hold your stress in your shoulders like I do, this release is always welcome and never disappointing.

I hope you enjoyed this series and think of even more ways to amplify your regular body care routines with some extra twisting!

Vrkshasana (tree pose) + sw***er... Let's call this tree swing.
The foot placement adds another pinning point to the two hands.
Shoulders and hips release while playing with balance and stability.

🌳🌳🌳

Also did a revolved triangle pose to allow the sw***er lines to extend all the way down to the lower body.

Twisted Ushtrasana (camel pose) combines a back bend with a wringing out of the spine.

Great for undoing any damage caused by hunching over a keyboard all day.

Add in a heart opener and feel the shoulders follow its lead.

Akarna dhanurasana (Archer's pose) stretches the hamstrings, glutes, and hips.

We're able to release the feet as well by adding an extra counter-rotation.

I prefer to get people comfortable with a twist closer to the ground before moving up and integrating more strength and balance. The body feels safer if you give it baby steps to work up from.

Happy twisting!!

Hamsasana (swan pose)

Matsyendrasana (Lord of the Fishes pose) aka seated spinal twist.
Offers spinal flexibility, massages the organs, and relieves lower back/shoulder pain.

Pullover
Offers lower back release and opens up that ribcage while pinning the fascia at two points.

Putting them together wrings out the torso and, as always, adds more angles to really get that breath into the deeper, often overlooked, nooks and crannies.

Cow face pose (gomukhasana) combined with the elbow release is heaven for the shoulders.

Add in a few extra twists and turns, and you'll feel the opening up all the way into your hips.

6 breaths in through the nose, out through the mouth in each variation is a simple way to spend time with your body while releasing tension.

Leg cradle, or Hindolasana.

This hip opener can be stacked with a spinal twist to really wring out the fascia.
The finger release adds a twist to the upper extremities all the way up to the neck and jaw while calming the mind.

Go slow, breathe deeply, and most importantly... Enjoy.

Happy New Year!! 🎊

2025 was spent, for the most part, getting to be friends with myself again.

Asking what I like, what I don't like, what makes me upset, what I want, what feels right, etcetera.

The conversations are ongoing and in the meantime, I've remembered I like yoga, my roots, my body, playing, breath, and feeling present.

So, in honor of winter (the resting season), I hope this version of child's pose brings you ease in the parts of our bodies that tend to tighten in the cold and an opportunity to start your own conversations with the kid inside yourself.
