This week’s Cleared for Adoption spotlight from Riverbend Humane Society is Anxious — although after spending some time with her, we’re pretty sure a more fitting name might be “Sweetheart”…

🐶 Meet Anxious

• Age: Approximately 3 years old
• Status: Spayed and ready for adoption
• Personality: Playful, affectionate, and happiest close to her people

Anxious is a loving dog who just wants to feel safe and cared for. Once she warms up, her true personality shines through — loyal, playful, and eager to stick right by your side. Let’s be honest, calling out “Anxious, come here!” at a crowded dog park is guaranteed to turn some heads and might be the perfect icebreaker. But the truth is, she has an inverse relationship with her name and the way she makes people feel. 🐾

In the photo, she’s pictured with Flight Nurse and Base Clinical Manager Austin, enjoying some well-earned attention and proving she’s much more “sweet” than “anxious.”

Riverbend Humane Society is a local non-profit, no-kill shelter currently at capacity and working hard every day to find homes for animals like her.

At Survival Flight 5, caring for the community is at the heart of what we do, we also believe service extends beyond the aircraft. We’re proud to continue highlighting adoptable animals that are with our friends at Riverbend Humane Society, in hopes to help them find a safe place to land.

This week’s Cleared for Adoption spotlight from the Riverbend Humane Society is Thor a strong name for a dog who’s been through a lot but still has plenty of love to give.

🐶 Meet Thor

• Breed: Pit Bull Mix

• Age: 3–4 years old

• Status: Will be neutered prior to adoption

• Good With: Older kids and dogs that aren’t overly overbearing

• Background: Thor was found abandoned and dumped before arriving at the shelter

Thor has been at Riverbend Humane Society for about six months, patiently waiting for the right person or family to give him the second chance he deserves.

Placing a helicopter on standby during a medical emergency is often lifesaving because in critical care, you can't get time back.

Ground or Air Standbys:

⭐️Decrease total transport time

⭐️Allow quicker access to higher level of care

⭐️Reduce secondary transfers

🚁🐾 Community Collaboration Spotlight

We’re proud to introduce a new community collaboration with Riverbend Humane Society, a local non-profit, no-kill shelter serving Jerseyville and the surrounding areas.

Riverbend Humane Society provides care and safe housing for both dogs and cats while working to find them permanent, loving homes. Like many shelters, they are currently at capacity and rely on community support and adoption to continue their mission.

At Survival Flight 5, caring for the community is at the heart of what we do. While most days that means responding to emergencies and providing critical care, we also believe service extends beyond the aircraft. Supporting local organizations that embody compassion and second chances is one more way we can give back.

We’ll be spotlighting an adoptable animal from Riverbend periodically to help increase visibility and connect them with potential forever families.
