You Don’t Find This Just Anywhere
The Jewell House, owned and operated by Suzanne Barnes, is a thoughtfully designed retreat and event venue nestled along the Ogeechee River, about 45 minutes outside of Augusta, Georgia. Suzanne’s primary team is her husband Wayne, and their traveling hippie daughter Tara. The team prides themselves on the plethora of local small businesses they are able to collaborate with in order to provide clients with luxurious amenities in a relaxed environment. They prioritize organic, farm-to-table food and emphasize partnerships with other local women business owners to empower their community.
The historic 40+ acre Jewell house property includes ½ mile (800 meters) of Ogeechee River frontage and a pond. The serene Forest Pavilion overlooks the river and is an ideal space for workshops, breakout sessions, meals, or more physical activities. The Nave, our outdoor stage and backdrop, lies at the base of our largest meadow, overlooking the pond. Between the Nave and the forest lies the 2,500 square foot Riverwalk Barn, crafted to Suzanne’s detailed imagination, with lumber harvested and milled on site by a local, third generation forester. Options for activities in the barn are as endless as your imagination, but we always recommend indulging in the outdoor bar option, with local wine and beer, or custom craft cocktails.
We have created a space where your group can come and develop together in the ways that you as a retreat leader are visualizing. Let the creative energy we put into this place flow into your projects. You have brilliant ideas for workshops or exercises, and we have the perfect spaces for them to unfold. Whether you are leading a specialized yoga retreat, a large conference with presentations in our barn, or a small mentorship retreat with one-on-one sessions by the river, our facilities are all designed to provide an inspirational and functional environment.
