The Blood Donation Challenge First Time Donor Trophy has arrived!

Companies involved in Des Moines Corporate Games can encourage first timers to donate blood during the blood donation challenge. The company who recruits the highest percent of first time donors will be awarded this trophy to display proudly at their location.

In just one week, Des Moines Fire Department crews used 9 units of blood in life-or-death moments to help save five patients.

Then they did something incredible. They gave it all back.

Fire Chief Jonathan Lund, Lt. Dan Davis, and fellow firefighters teamed up to donate 9 units back into the community blood supply...helping ensure the next patient has a fighting chance.

Because of this program, 4 out of 5 patients survived. That’s not luck. That’s the power of blood donors.

After a demanding week, the Des Moines Fire Department administered 9 units of pre-hospital blood to save lives. Then the DMFD team stepped up to donate those same 9 units right back into our community supply!

That means every donation not only helps save lives, it also helps you stay more informed about your own wellness!

Along with your cholesterol results, you’ll continue to receive key health checks including:
Blood pressure, Hemoglobin (Iron Level), Pulse, and Temperature.

The cholesterol test measures total cholesterol, including LDL (bad cholesterol), HDL (good cholesterol), and triglycerides. Since blood donation is non-fasting, results are for informational awareness and not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent disease.
