6 weeks postpartum...“Cleared for exercise”

Let’s clear one thing up, this looks different for EVERYONE! You may be ready to start exercise before 6 weeks, and it may be much longer. Both of those are normal!

Here’e my encouragement to you. Listen to your body, and choose physical activity that brings you JOY.

I may not be ready to jump back in to Crossfit, but the lake brings me joy. So I jumped in, rode some waves, jumped some cliffs with our boys and felt proud of what my body can do.

So here’s your permission to return to exercise on your timeline mommas.

Dream Team. Seriously.
And the best part? There’s room to grow!
We started MwB Health both to serve our patients and the clinicians that join our team. To foster an environment that encourages providers to grow.
We are looking to add a full time chiropractor and part time physical therapist to our team!
Intrigued? Or know someone that would be a great fit? Send them our way!

Looking for ideas to improve your pelvic floor strength and endurance?
Here are 5 ideas to get you started! Be sure to think of elevating your pelvic floor to engage the muscles before you start each exercise.
1. Adductor Bridge: use a foam roller in side plank position. Press into the foam roller to lift yourself off the ground. Pause 2-5 seconds, then lower.
2. Make it harder by moving foam roller to your ankle
3. Forward/backward banded walks: band at ankles, partial squat — take big, wide steps forward and backward keeping tension on the band
4. Super band side stepping: step into a super band. Keep your feet wide and baby step side to side maintaining tension on the band
5. Med ball waddles: exactly what you think! Squeeze a med ball between your knees and slowly walk forward and backward.
Not sure what I mean by “elevate” your pelvic floor? Or not sure you are quite ready for these but need some direction? Shoot me a DM. Pelvic floor strength is for EVERYONE.

Enjoy the process.
Sometimes the rehab process doesn't move as fast as we would like. Make sure you keep track of the little wins. Find a rehab professional that pushes you, encourages you , cries with you during the hard times and celebrates the wins with you!

Midline abdominal separation (Diastasis Recti) occurs in some degree in 100% of pregnancies. It is the body’s way of making room for baby!
It’s time to stop spreading fear about this condition in women.
We need to worry less about “closing the gap” and more about learning to establish tension through our midlines.
Sometimes knowing where to start postpartum is the hardest part.
Reach out and let us help you learn the tools you need to manage your midline separation, progress back to exercise safely, and trust your body again.

Oly platform or dance floor?
Who says you can't dance ballet in a crossfit gym!?
Returning to sport after injury can be intimidating. The best part of my job is seeing my patients return to what they LOVE!
Lauren is one of the hardest working athlete's I've worked with. She is always up for anything that will get her one step closer to a real dance floor.
PTs out there, remember to think outside the box, watch the film, study your patient's sport, learn the language.
