vitamin d is called the “sunshine vitamin” ☀️ because our bodies can make it when skin is exposed to sunlight.

but things like the season, sunscreen, clothing, clouds, smog, skin pigmentation, and where you live can all affect how much vitamin d your body produces. that’s why it’s important for toddlers and kids to also eat vitamin d rich foods as part of a balanced diet!

vitamin d helps the body absorb calcium to build strong bones and teeth. it also supports muscle function and helps keep the immune system working properly!

vitamin c is important to form and repair red blood cells, bones, and tissues.

it also boosts the immune system!

another important role is that it helps the body absorb iron from food sources- this is especially true when consuming iron derived from plant-based sources.
