We are so excited to share that we are officially the new owners of Gene The Pumpkin Man’s farm. We are Steele and Sadie Evans, Gene's great nephew and niece-in-law, the fourth generation to farm this land. Our family has dedicated themselves to and worked this land since 1885, and we are honored to be able to continue the incredibly orange tradition Gene poured his life into.

After much prayer and reflection, we have decided to take on a new name for the business, Evans Acres Family Farm. We chose a new name because we have big plans for the future - to see the farm grow, to welcome animals back to the land, and to restore it as a true family farm once again. While the name on the mailbox may be changing, the name on the barn doors is not. This farm holds so many memories for our family and for the community, and we can’t wait to welcome you all back.

Disappointingly, we will not be able to be open to the public this fall. There is just not enough time to prepare this year, and we don’t want to simply throw something together. Gene would never approve of that, and we won't either. So stay tuned for updates as we prepare for fall of 2026!

From our family to yours: Thank you for your patience, your support, and your prayers as we prepare for this next chapter. We cannot wait to re-open our gates soon and share all that’s ahead with all of you along the way!

Who says you can’t be a mama and a doula at the same time? 😅 Did a little client interview on our walk today (thankful she didn’t mind the panting!) and got a few miles in. The twins even fell asleep. 🙌

Argentine car mechanic Jorge Odón got his inspiration after watching a YouTube video about removing a cork from a wine bottle. That little life hack sparked a thought.

What if the same principle could help deliver babies stuck in the birth canal?

Working in his kitchen, he built a prototype using a glass jar for a womb, his daughter’s doll as the baby, and a fabric bag sewn by his wife.

The result became the Odón Device A simple tool where a plastic bag inside a lubricated sleeve grips a baby’s head, allowing safe delivery with a gentle pull.

The World Health Organization quickly recognized its potential and sought to have it produced.

Every year, millions of women and babies face life-threatening complications from obstructed labor. Current tools like forceps and suction can cause serious harm if used incorrectly, especially in rural clinics with limited resources.

The Odón Device, however, can be used safely with minimal training, making it a game-changer for both low-resource settings and even reducing unnecessary C-sections in wealthier countries.

Backed by funding from global health organizations and licensed for production by medical giant BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company),the invention is moving from kitchen counter to clinics worldwide.

What started as a mechanic’s midnight brainstorm might soon transform childbirth and save countless lives.

Beautiful 🤩

Beautiful 🤩

Yesterday being a doula looked like supporting a beautiful, redemptive, powerful VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean).

It looked like transforming a hospital room from being an environmental trigger to a birth spa.

It looked like witnessing a woman’s power, one that she knew was in her all along, rise to the surface so we might all celebrate it.

It looked like a galaxy of possibility.

My gratitude for being called into this work only grows.
