🦋💙 It’s *Thyroid Awareness Month*!

At **Montana Spine & Neurodevelopment Center**, we recognize the importance of proper nervous system and hormonal communication in supporting overall wellness.

❄️💙 *Beat the Winter Blues in Montana*
Long winters and limited sunlight can leave many feeling low on energy—and low on vitamin D3. Vitamin D plays a key role in mood regulation, immune health, and bone strength.

Tips to stay healthy this winter:
✔ **Get outside when you can**—even brief sunlight helps boost D3
✔ **Consider safe supplementation** if recommended by your healthcare provider
✔ **Eat D-rich foods** like fatty fish, eggs, and fortified dairy
✔ **Stay active** to keep your energy and mood up
✔ **Prioritize sleep and stress management**

At **Montana Spine & Neurodevelopment Center**, we support your nervous system and overall wellness—helping your body thrive, even during the darkest months.

☀️ Nourish your body. Lift your mood. Embrace winter.

Primitive reflexes are automatic movements present at birth that support survival and early neurological development. As the brain matures, these reflexes should naturally integrate, allowing for purposeful movement, posture, and coordination.

Key primitive reflexes include:
✨ **Moro Reflex** – Startle response linked to balance and sensory processing
✨ **ATNR (Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex)** – Head turning response supporting hand-eye coordination
✨ **TLR (Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex)** – Influences posture, muscle tone, and balance
✨ **Palmar Grasp Reflex** – Gripping reflex important for early hand development
✨ **Spinal Galant Reflex** – Side-bending response that supports trunk movement and coordination

At **Montana Spine & Neurodevelopment Center**, we help families understand how retained reflexes may impact movement, focus, and development.

Building strong neurological foundations from the start.

Did you know students can’t learn when their nervous systems don't feel safe.

Not because they're choosing not to learn because their body won't let them. When a child's (or any human's) nervous system assesses the environment as unsafe (through neuroception—a subconscious scan for safety cues), it prioritizes survival over learning.

This is why felt safety comes FIRST:
Not curriculum.
Not behavior expectations.
✨Felt Safety✨

When students feel safe, their nervous systems can relax into ventral vagal, the state where learning, curiosity, and engagement are possible.
