On October 7th, over 400 people gathered at the Kanab Center with the Kane Community Coalition for their 10th annual Family Fun Night. Using funds provided by the Kane County Commission, the Kane Community Coalition holds this annual event to help support families prevent underage drinking and substance use. This year, to celebrate a decade of success in our community, the event included not just free dinner, pumpkin decorating and other family fun, but also an inflatable obstacle course and bounce house, and many fun prizes.

The event was a huge success! The Kane Community Coalition would like to thank so many wonderful volunteers who helped make it happen, and we hope to see everyone and more next year!

Hello hello! Happy Tip Tuesday from KCYC:) today’s tip is about comparison- Do you compare yourself to others? Sometimes comparing helps us try a little harder and can be a good thing.
However!
when self-comparison diminishes our self-worth, it’s unhealthy… Try the “Stop Technique”. When you first realize you are comparing yourself to someone else, say to yourself or out loud, “Stop it!”

G2G 2024 Local Scholarships

The Grand to Grand Ultra has nominated the Kane Community Youth Coalition (KCYC) as it's "Kane County Cause for 2024" for their emphasis on the values of health, fitness, nature, local community, and support for substance abuse and mental health. Special thanks to Celeste Meyeres Kane County Commissioner and Co-Race Director Tess Geddes.

The KCYC is appreciative to Colin Geddes, the Grand to Grand Ultra, Commissioner Celeste Meyers for recommending the KCYC for this award, and members of the community for their continued support. The Kane Community Youth Coalition will honor this scholarship by building an engaged and supportive community through educating others, strengthening the family unit, improving the quality of life, eliminating su***de and va**ng use rates, and resolving community risk issues.

Locals Discount
The Grand to Grand Ultra has already launched registration for G2G 2024 and has been accepting entries from all over the world. We are once again offering two free entries into G2G 2024 for two lucky residents of Kane County. The 11th Edition of the Grand to Grand Ultra, America’s only self-supported ultra-marathon stage race, which starts from the Grand Canyon covering 171 miles over 7 days, will take place from September 22 to 28, 2024. Those interested should submit their applications to G2G by no later than November 28, explaining in an email of less than 100 words, why they should be chosen for one of the two scholarships. The application should also include a resume and two references. Please send the email to colin@g2gultra.com. If you are lucky enough to be shortlisted, you will then receive a reply from us explaining the terms and conditions of the scholarship. Winners are required to make a commitment to raise a target of at least $2,000 each for the KCYC. Locals Discount Long-time residents of Kane County are now entitled to a Special Locals discount of 25% off the entry fee. Evidence will be required to validate the resident discount.

We here at the KCYC hope your month so far as been very nice and social! Around this time of year it can get real busy, and sometimes we just want to lay down and relax. But don't forget about Social Connections! (Of course relaxing is good too)
