The summer program began with an orientation for parents and students on June 14, 2016. During the month long institute, the high school students invested time in exploring careers available within the transportation field. Activities were designed to enhance leadership, teamwork, and career development skills, as well as providing students with an introduction to college life. At the conclusion of the program on July 19th, a celebration luncheon was given for the students inviting community members, dignitaries, project partners, and family members. The numerous activities of the 2016 KCSTI are shown in detail below.

On July 14, 2015, students, family members, project staff and community leaders joined together for the annual closing ceremony to celebrate another successful year of the Kansas City Summer Transportation institute. Cindy Terwilliger, Federal Transit Administration gave the opening remarks and served as the emcee for the event. KCSTI was very honored to have Joe Reardon, CEO of the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA), as the guest speaker of the afternoon. [ 370 more words. ]

We are busy getting ready for the KCSTI 2015 Program Graduation tomorrow! Following are the highlights from our final days of KCSTI 2015. Day 18: July 9, 2015 The KCSTI students begin the day breaking the concrete they had mixed during the second week of the camp. The students were excited to see how their hard work paid off. Monday, July 6, 2015 - Day 15 eitas is Jackson County's SB40, which provides targeted case management to people with developmental disabilities. They offer a transportation program that serves people eligible for their services in the Kansas City metro area, getting them to workplaces throughout Jackson County. In addition, eitas provides specialized weekend and evening transportation. KCSTI students were given a showcase of the numerous careers available at the eitas Transportation Center.
