I've thought about this subject a lot.
There's a huge gap between when we want/hope for something and actually having/accomplish it.
And I ask myself all the time, what is that gap?
And it dawned on me recently, it's choosing.
Each day we have a number a seemingly simple choices, but in order to get what we want or something we haven't had before, we have to choose something new.
Here's the thing about making choices.
If you choose one thing, you often have to let go of other things;
like temporary comfort
the easy out
the option to "start tomorrow"
the unhealthy coping habit you've been justifying for years
doing what everyone else is doing
instant pleasure
Why is the hard? Because often to accomplish what we want, the CHOICE we need choose is the one that has ZERO immediate return, and is uncomfortable in the moment.
Choosing to go on a walk instead of watching TV
Eating healthy and meal planning instead of ordering out
working out instead of relaxing
doing the work instead of scrolling through IG
You get the point. Here's the best part though; it's all just once choice away. Everyday.
You have the power, just ask yourself in the moment, temporary pleasure or long term satisfaction?
You got this :)
Also this is why I have 'abandon hope' tatoo'd on my body. I'm hopeful, but I like to remind myself I have choice in the matter 😉
