Education & Services
The Midwest Hemophilia Association (MHA) provides educational materials about various bleeding disorders, available treatments, the latest on reimbursement issues, and legislative (Federal and State) matters related to the bleeding disorder community. MHA is proud to offer post-secondary education scholarship opportunities to its members. A resident summer camp program is open to children ages 7-17 with bleeding disorders. Campers learn to manage their condition and participate in educational activities. In addition, campers have fun doing crafts and participating in organized sports.

There are 13 main blood clotting proteins, called clotting factors, that work together to help blood form a clot and stop bleeding. These proteins activate one another in a chain reaction known as the Coagulation cascade, which ultimately forms a stable clot to seal an injured blood vessel. 🩸People with hemophilia are missing one of the 13 proteins.
