Your therapist takes her family to metal concerts in her free time 🤘🏻🤍🙏🏻
Practicing what I preach and letting go of the rigid “rules” we can place on ourselves in parenting.
The show started at 7:30… aka bedtime. I had a sitter lined up. Easy choice, right?
But friends were bringing their kids, and I got curious (and honestly… nervous). Took the plunge and canceled the sitter.
Plot twist: their kids got sick and understandably had to bail.
Cue the spiral-do I stay home? Send my husband? Stick to the plan?
We went anyway.
Nap was off. Schedule was off. Everything was “off.”
And it was PERFECT.
Late afternoon nap. Dinner out.
Our oldest was giddy being out past dark. Rocked out and fell asleep on dad’s shoulders.
Our youngest? Thrived in the chaos and loved every second.
They crashed in the car and transferred straight to bed.
My heart is so full. And I would’ve missed all of it if I clung to those rigid “rules.”
Did this spark anything for you?
Any rules you might loosen to let in a little more joy?
Trust me I know… it’s HARD 🤍
