IS STRESS MAKING YOU SICK? Short answer...YES. Here's why:

Cortisol is a hormone that helps to regulate your blood sugar, blood pressure, and even your sleep-wake cycle. It's also released when there is an external threat (think bear chasing after you). In excess, cortisol hijacks the body's resources and temporarily breaks down our body to be able to give us the resources need to survive. The body then assumes that we will rest after to recover and replenish what was lost. It trades short-term loss for long-term gain.

The body interprets stress the same way it would a bear chasing after you. BUT, in our world constant stress, our bodies think we are always getting chased by this figurative bear and we never recover...and cortisol never goes away. This can cause a lot of damage throughout the body and impact everything from the production of other hormones, how we digest food, blood sugar levels, blood pressure, energy levels, and immune system; which in turn can spiral the body into chaos.

Cortisol, then, becomes the first domino that falls in this cascade of chronic disease and it impacts every other function our body does.

How do we negate these bad effects and bring our cortisol levels back down to a normal level? REST. Go outside. Go for a walk. Listen to the birds. Pray. Do things that fill your depleted cup back up.

Struggling with chronic headaches/migraines, fatigue, and brain fog?

Did you know that one of the culprits behind those frequent headaches could be due to a yeast overgrowth?

These yeasts live in your gut, feed off of the sugar and carbs you eat, and then produce a toxic compound called acetaldehyde. This metabolite is the same thing that alcohol is broken down into after drinking liquor.

Because of the burden this places on your liver, toxins can back up, triggering a headache and causing fatigue and brain fog - essentially making you feel the same symptoms as a hangover.
