About our founder...

Jane Teeman, owner/operator of Visiting Angels of Kansas City, MO, began her career in skilled healthcare in the late 1980’s as a CNA in a nursing home. She quickly realized the caseload at the nursing home was overwhelming and impossible to give everyone the attention they needed and deserved. When Jane’s father John, a U.S. Navy veteran, became disabled, she realized the need for in-home caregivers and witnessed the personal care that enabled John to remain in his home for many more happy years with his family that would have otherwise been impossible.

After the experience with her father, Jane was encouraged and motivated to move into the home healthcare field in 1990 to enjoy a more personal relationship with her patients and clients. In 1994, Jane was awarded the Kansas City Regional Home Healthcare Aid of the Year. Jane continued as a home healthcare aid in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area until her family was transferred to St. Louis in 1998. In 1999, she completed her degree in respiratory therapy and worked in at St. Joseph’s Hospital until 2003. In June 2003, Jane took an opportunity to relocate to her hometown open Visiting Angels of Kansas City, MO franchise as her own non medical care company. Jane operated Visiting Angels until her retirement in January 2018.
