It’s been 6 months since I rebranded as Free to Bee! 🎉
After operating on Kauai as McPhee’s Bees for 15 years, it felt like quite the undertaking to rebrand my entire business — but I’m so stoked that I took the leap!
Thanks to all those that encouraged and cheered me on, every step of the way.
Grateful for all my customers near & far!! …and the support of the local stores in the community that carry my products and allow me to keep doing what I love, and keep buzzing, after all these years.

The bees have been busy making that pure honeycomb! …and I just love how this frame showcases the shift in floral source, as the seasons change and the bees build & forage. This is predominantly a shift in java plum to albizia foraging, seen here, and many more tropical wildflowers in between! 💐💐💐🐝🐝🐝🐝

Hey I’m Manda Tollefson , owner and operator of McPhee’s Bees.
I’m long overdue for a proper introduction - and now feels like the perfect moment.
I’m officially rebranding my business name to something that resonates more deeply with where I am in life and that reflects my natural beekeeping practices.

Introducing …. Free to Bee

It’s been a WILD, exciting, and sometimes exhausting 14-year journey running this little buzzzzness as McPhee’s Bees, here on the beautiful Garden Island.
I’m SO grateful for every step of it!!
As with many things in Hawaii, this will be a slow change and gentle transition. Not much else is changing— just my last name and business name. The bees are still my life’s passion, and I’ll continue delivering that golden goodness to our favorite island health food stores and local restaurants, along with the same recognizable bee logo.
Its been a joy to serve the Kaua’i community and visitors, and I look forward to continuing to care for the bees as they pollinate our island paradise— now, as ✨FREE TO BEE✨

It’s a great day to be buzzing in the apiary.
I’m checking on honeycomb frames and doing swarm control today 🌳🐝🐝🐝
Every couple of years I get a new beesuit and it stays white for about 20 minutes, so I figured I should snap a photo before it gets totally trashed with propolis and honey ! 😎

🌞🐝Summer Solstice Honey is hitting the shelves locally this week in Kilauea and in Kapaa & Koloa! That sweet light albezia variety from Anahola apiary & the full bodied tropical wild blossom honey from Moloaʻa apiary are both so divine! 🍯🍯✨
